The first day of this year’s National Restaurant Association Show, which bills itself as the international food service marketplace, took place on Saturday, May 21 at McCormick Place in Chicago. The first big day of the event showed that it certainly lived up to that title, with major keynotes and a massive amount of traffic across the show floor, especially over in the Tech Pavilion where Plexure was located. This area alone takes up over half of the exhibition hall with lots of different technology providers on-site, including a number of back office solutions for point of sale, refrigeration and capabilities and more, in addition to those like us under the Internet of Things umbrella.
It was over in this IoT area that we met with countless eager restaurateurs interested in learning about the connected consumer and how data and analytics can be used to drive a differentiated customer experience. While some vendors are looking at basic loyalty programs, those forward-thinking restaurateurs are looking to take advantage of some of the new capabilities that mobile devices, Big Data and analytics can provide.
In addition, Plexure CEO Scott Bradley had the opportunity to present early on day one, offering attendees a look at a case study review during the session “Attracting and Delighting Customers via Mobile with 1:1 Customer Engagement.”
