At Plexure, we are committed to empowering our employees and cultivating an awesome company culture. For the Plexure Employee Spotlight series, we’re putting the spotlight on those at Plexure who are living out that #Plexurelife.
This month, we're shining a light on Katie Norton, Plexure's Marketing Manager based in the US.
Tell us about your role at Plexure and what you enjoy about it.
As Marketing Manager for the US market, my role involves a number of creative disciplines, including strategy and planning, writing, branding, and design. I enjoy collaborating with the many wonderful, talented people I work with to tackle creative challenges. Even though most of my colleagues live on the opposite side of the world from me, I feel supported and valued as a member of one big team, and I think that says a lot about the culture at Plexure.
Why did you decide to join Plexure?
So I could take a trip to New Zealand! Just kidding. Plexure operates in such an interesting space – identifying patterns within a massive amount of data and using that information to generate offers people actually want – I’m fascinated by the science behind personalizing those experiences at scale. Beyond that, I love working with tech startups because it’s such a dynamic environment, and I’ve enjoyed seeing Plexure change and grow.
In your time at Plexure what’s something you’ve achieved or accomplished that you’re most proud of?
Within 6 months of joining Plexure, we launched a new website. It was a huge project with a ton of moving parts, and working alongside my team from concept to launch was an exhausting but rewarding experience. Compared to the old site, we not only improved the appearance and user experience but also web metrics across the board like traffic, sessions, and bounce rates.
What is the most memorable event/activity that comes to mind whilst you’ve been here?
I joined Plexure in March 2020, right when COVID started hitting hard. It was a scary and uncertain first few months, but the awesome people at Plexure managed to bring levity to the situation with company-wide Friday Zoom drinks. Each department took turns hosting with a different theme or activity planned, which resulted in some hilarious Zoom backgrounds and costumes. It was cool how everyone managed to come together and create our own little online culture and community.
What can we find you doing outside of work?
I’m a foodie so I enjoy shopping at farmer’s markets and cooking dinner for friends and family as well as trying out new restaurants around Atlanta. I love animals, especially my standard poodle Leon who takes up nearly all of my free time. I also enjoy caring for plants and have a not-so-small collection of cacti, succulents, herbs, orchids, and even carnivorous plants!
What’s something interesting about you that not a lot of people know?
Growing up, I spent most of my time on my best friend’s farm and learned how to ride a horse when I was 6. I spent 13 years of my life training horses and competing in Hunter-Jumper at the state level. Bless my parents. It was a blast!
