At Plexure, we are committed to empowering our employees and cultivating an awesome company culture. For the Plexure Employee Spotlight series, we’re putting the spotlight on those at Plexure who are living out #teamplexure.
This month, we're shining a light on Bel Quinery, a Junior IT Engineer based in the Auckland, NZ Head Office.
Tell us about your role at Plexure and what you enjoy about it?
I am a Junior IT Engineer and a few of my main duty is to help our Internal users. Shayne (my teammate) and I are the first line of defense for issues that happen within the company, whether is it big or small, from onboarding to offboarding of our employees.
It’s a huge responsibility, as issues can range from internally used systems or hardware not working properly to whole servers being down, and that can cause the company to lose money.
As an IT Engineer, I am tracking all instances of support by creating IT tickets using Jira SM. Our support may be conducted in person for onsite users or through remote access when helping our overseas users (UK, US, Japan and Poland).
My role also includes maintenance and making sure that IT security policies are being followed. It intimidated me at first, but I’m also glad to be a part of this important team.
What I really enjoyed on my role is that no two days are the same. From the issues we resolve up to the people we give support to.
I can be working with one team today and another tomorrow. I have established friendships in the office that also supports me to grow on my career. Another aspect that I love is the collaboration between teams. Everyone is always on hand to help with any issues, whether it is a question about a different aspect of the product or just some guidance.
Why did you decide to join Plexure?
I had my eye on Plexure for almost a year before I joined. I have heard and read a lot of great stuff about Plexure. I have felt that the culture we have in here is what I’ve been looking for.
In your time at Plexure what is something you have achieved/accomplished that you are most proud of?
The most rewarding part of my job is the satisfaction of helping our users solve their issues. It is a great feeling when you can help the users with an issue; they may have been trying to fix themselves for some time.
In my short time at Plexure, I’ve been nominated on our monthly awards for the “Having our back” award which somehow also help me build my self-esteem knowing that they value and appreciate what we do for them.
What is the most memorable event/activity that comes to mind whilst you have been here?
In my first few weeks with Plexure, there are 2 main events that happened. First, Big room planning company-wide. Second, the technology group team outing, was very memorable to me as it proves Plexure’s culture, work, and life balance that as we work hard, we play hard.
What can we find you doing outside of work? Or what hobbies do you have?
I am a part of Young Christian Professionals Group which I spend most of my time with doing fellowships, service days at Auckland City Mission, playing guitar, creating song covers, playing netball, hiking and so much more.
What is something interesting about you that not a lot of people know?
I know how to roll a perfect burrito.
