At Plexure, we’re big believers in the power of community and we are committed to cultivating an amazing company culture. For the Plexure Employee Spotlight series, we’re putting the spotlight on those at Plexure who are living out that #Plexurelife.
Josh is the Senior Sales Engineer based in the Auckland, NZ Head Office. When he’s not digging deep to understand our prospects, you can typically find him running or enjoying French food or a spot of whisky. He is also now a member of the Plexure Band… although he may not know it yet!
Tell us about your role at Plexure and what you enjoy about it?
I’m in the front end of the business, but from a technical angle. This involves deeply understanding the needs of our customers and tailoring our solution to solve their unique set of challenges ultimately driving business outcomes.
I also work internally across our product and tech leaders – keeping up to date and also feeding market information into the teams - the trends, needs and common challenges we see in our sales conversations.
There’s good variety in who we talk with, countries, verticals, and departments, so no conversation is the same. I’m quite social, and I like how I get to meet a wide mix of people across our prospects and partners.
In my role I also get to know our potential customers, asking meaningful questions as well as sharing insights or observations and how we might help. I’m actually a robotics engineer by training, so for me I’ve enjoyed figuring out how to take customers to the next level from multiple perspectives: strategic, commercial, marketing and digital.
Why did you decide to join Plexure?
Plexure’s been in massive growth mode and ultimately it was an industry move for me – from high tech B2B electronics to innovative enterprise cloud tech. I also wanted to build on my analytics and data background, which I’d developed over a few years in a prior role.
In your time at Plexure what’s something you’ve achieved/accomplished that you’re most proud of?
I’m probably most proud of our collaborative efforts between sales, marketing and product teams. We’ve had some pretty great outcomes and despite the pressure there’s always great humour and support across the team.
What can we find you doing outside of work?
When I’m not enjoying working on my car, I’m a keen long distance runner (when not injured), PC gamer and hiker. Otherwise I enjoy exploring new places on Urban List for good eats, and unfortunately for my wallet I enjoy scotch whisky.
What’s something interesting about you that not a lot of people know?
I secretly play trumpet in a jazz band. But I didn’t tell you that.
